Many poor local Summerville residents are struggling with mental
health issues that require specific medications. Mostly being uninsured, the patients will be
seen by doctors at hospitals where they were given prescriptions upon discharge
that they cannot afford. Often they
wind up in the Emergency Room as a result of not having medications. These folks need assistance for medications
to avoid recurrence of emotional episodes.
Change for a Dollar was asked to assist a couple of folks with their
mental health medication. Change for a
Dollar has a relationship with a local pharmacy where they offer a discount on
medications and Change for a Dollar pays for those prescriptions.
